Although today marks the end of the broadcast run for the first season of the Reincarnated as a Sword TV anime, it was just announced that a second season will be added to the continuing light novel adaptation. The news was preceded by the release of a teaser visual as well as a commemorative ad; however, no more details have been revealed as of yet.

Yuu Tanaka is the author of the original Reincarnated as Sword light novels, which were written and published by Micro Magazine under their GC Novels banner. In Japan, these books are known by the title Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita. Comic Boost is the publication that is hosting the serialization of the manga adaptation, which was also written by Yuu Tanaka with illustrations by Tomowo Maruyama. Seven Seas Entertainment is responsible for the publication of the light novel as well as the manga in English. HIDIVE is currently airing episodes of the anime television series adaptation.

The protagonist loses his life in a vehicle accident but is reborn in another universe as a sword. He has no memories of his prior identity other than the fact that he is a sword but remembers everything else about his previous existence. After coming to terms with his role as a sword, he begins looking for someone to take control of him so he can continue to fight and level up his abilities. He discovers a group of slave traders whose caravan is being attacked by a bear with two heads. Fran, a young catgirl slave, finds the sword and uses it to slay the bear. She gives the sword the name "Teacher" once she has been liberated from servitude, and the two of them then embark on an adventure together.
