The official Twitter account has tweeted that the second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero, which was originally slated for an October 2021 release, has secured a new release window of April 2022.
The good news for fans of the anime is that a third season has been confirmed to be in the works!
The Rising of the Shield Hero's first season, consisting of 25 episodes, originally aired in the first half of 2019. The English dub of the first season is currently available via Funimation's streaming app (click here). It was directed by Takao Abo (Norn9) at studio Kinema Citrus and featured music by Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss) and character designs by Masahiro Suwa (Chaika - The Coffin Princess).
The anime is based upon the popular Japanese dark fantasy isekai light novels of the same name, written by Aneko Yusagi. It was originally published as a web novel on the user-generated Shōsetsuka ni Narō novel web site and later published by Media Factory with illustrations by Seira Minami.
The novel was then adapted into a manga series by Aiya Kyū. The 25-episode anime television series was adapted and produced by Kinema Citrus and began airing in January of 2019.
