After
Death Note Light up the NEW world opened with the number one spot at the Japanese box office, ending
your name.'s nine week dominance, the Makoto Shinkai directed pic has returned to the #1 position. Analysts expect the film to eclipse the 20 billion yen (~$191,406,000 USD) mark before its run in theaters has concluded. While he somewhat shirks the comparison, Shinkai is looked upon as the figuritive successor of Hiyato Miyazaki. While your name. has a solid chance to suprass the box office totals for most of Miyazaki's anime films on the all-time Top 10 Box Office list, it virtually has no chance to eclipse the staggering 30.8 billion yen (~$287,109,000 USD) grossed by
Spirited Away.
Recently,
Funimation announced it will give your name. an Academy Awards qualifying run in Los Angelese next month, with plans for an expanded theatrical release to occure in early 2017.
