Earlier this year, Hulu announced that it had acquired the U.S. rights to the anime series Undead Unluck. With its premiere just a day away — October 6 — the streaming service has finally shared the first blood-soaked teaser trailer.
An adaptation of Yoshifumi Tozuka's popular manga, serialized in “Shonen Jump," Undead Unluck follows the brutal adventures of Andy, a Negator with the power of "Undead," and Fuko Izumo, a young girl who brings misfortune to those around her due to her "Unluck."
Together, the duo form the Union with the goal to control and protect the world from unidentified phenomena. As they take on challenging quests and powerful foes, they will start to uncover the mysteries of the world o their search for the "greatest death ever."

Tired of inadvertently killing people with her special ability Unluck, Fuuko Izumo sets out to end it all. But when she meets Andy, a man who longs for death but can't die, she finds a reason to live—and he finds someone capable of giving him the death he's been longing for.
Undead Unluck is created by Yoshifumi Tozuka, who made his manga debut with the one-shot "Uchuu Kankou C-Arc" in May 2014. Undead Unluck began serialization in Weekly "Shonen Jump" in January 2020.
Undead Unluck will debut on Hulu this Friday, October 6 as part of the streaming services Animayhem collection. Hulu will then be offering a sneak peek of Episode 2 at New York Comic-Con the following week. A special screening will be shown to attendees on Thursday, October 12 at 11:30 a.m. EST (Room 405, Javits Center).
Based on the trailer, it seems like Undead Unluck will debut with English subtitles; however, TSM Entertainment did hold open auditions for a role in the English dub for the series back in July at Anime Expo 2023. It's unclear when the English dub version will be available, but probably not immediately.
Undead Unluck is part of Hulu's new Animayhem branding — a new sub-brand focused on adult animation and anime. Hulu is already home to a bunch of popular adult animated shows, including Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, Futurama, and King of the Hill. Specifically on the anime front, Hulu boasts 17 films and 272 series, totaling 435 seasons and 18,400 episodes (including subtitled and English dubbed versions). Undead Unluck is the latest to join the already impressive catalog with more to come.
