About The New Magic Knight Rayearth Anime
The new series premiered in Japan earlier this month (October 7th) on TV Asahi. According to Crunchyroll, Yui Miura, who served as an assistant director on JUJUTSU KAISEN, is directing at studio E&H Production. Shigeru Murakoshi of ZOMBIE LAND SAGA is in charge of series composition, and the music comes from Yuki Kajiura, Shiho Terada and Takumi Ozawa.
The story follows three schoolgirls who get pulled into another world during a field trip. Crunchyroll describes it like this:
"A school trip to Tokyo Tower turns into a battle for another world when Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu are summoned to Cefiro! With Princess Emeraude captured, the magical world teeters on the brink of collapse. To save her, the three girls must awaken their powers, become the Legendary Magic Knights, and face deadly enemies before Cefiro is lost forever!"
CLAMP originally released the manga in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine, with Magic Knight Rayearth running from 1993 to 1995 and Magic Knight Rayearth 2 following from 1995 to 1996. The full story spans six volumes in Japan, and Kodansha USA publishes both parts in English. The manga was first adapted into anime in the 1990s, so this new version is the first time many younger viewers will meet the Magic Knights.
Sasaki And Peeps Season 2 Dub Also Arrives
Rayearth was not the only Crunchyroll dub to debut on the same day. The English dub of Sasaki and Peeps Season 2 also started streaming with weekly episodes yesterday, and there is some fun overlap between the two casts. Erin Nicole Lundquist returns as Peeps after voicing Alcyone in Rayearth, while Caitlin Glass, who plays Emeraude, is the voice director for Sasaki and Peeps.
Tyson Rinehart is back as Sasaki, and the first episode's cast also includes Taylor Murphy as the Neighbor, Hollis Beck as Abaddon, Robin Clayton as Shizuka, Ray Hurd as Muller, Lisette Monique Diaz as Elsa, Reagan Murdock as Akutsu and Julie Cleburn as Hoshizaki. For the new season, Crunchyroll says Yushi Abe has taken over as director at SILVER LINK., with Deko Akao on series composition and Saori Nakashiki on character designs.
