The new Magic Knight Rayearth anime just got its second main trailer, and the show is no longer a one-cour teaser. A Sunday stage at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair revealed the video, four more voice actors, both theme songs, and a half-year broadcast plan. The series premieres October 7 at 11:45 p.m. in TV Asahi's IMAnimation W block and affiliated stations. It will run two consecutive cours. Crunchyroll is streaming the reboot as it airs.
Toaka performs the opening, "Otome no Tsurugi" ("A Young Lady's Sword"). The track is an original written for the show and hits digital platforms October 14 through EMI Records / Universal Music. Yurina Kawaguchi sings the ending, "Hoshiakari" ("Starlight"), also on Universal. The second PV cuts both songs over fights with Zagato's people and the first clear look at the Mashin standing behind the three knights. Check out the trailer below:
Toaka, who also fronted the theme for Makoto Shinkai's Suzume, said the song is built around the girls' straight, unguarded feelings. They get dropped into a dying world and told to save it. She wanted the music to shove them forward. The new voices for the cast fill out Zagato's side.

Kikuchi is the one name that bridges the 1990s show and this one. She voiced Mokona in the original television series.
CLAMP serialized Magic Knight Rayearth in Kodansha's Nakayoshi from 1993 to 1996 across six volumes. Three Tokyo middle schoolers, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, get pulled off a class trip at Tokyo Tower into Cephiro. The mage Clef meets them with the bad news: Priest Zagato has taken Princess Emeraude, whose prayers hold the world together. Without her, Cephiro starts to come apart. The girls are named Magic Knights and have to learn the job in public.
TMS made the first television adaptation from October 1994 to March 1995, then Magic Knight Rayearth 2 from April to November 1995. A three-episode 1997 OVA, titled simply Rayearth, retold the story on a different track. Media Blasters put the TV series on VHS and DVD in the United States. Discotek Media licensed it in 2014 and issued a complete TV collection on DVD and Blu-ray in 2017, without the OVA. Kodansha USA still publishes the manga.
The 2026 show is a new production. Yui Miura is making his series directorial debut at E&H production after episode-director work on Ninja Kamui and Bullet/Bullet. Takayuki Sano is assistant director. Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombie Land Saga, Ninja Kamui, Apocalypse Hotel) is writing the series scripts. Satomi Watabe (Escha Chron, Aikatsu Friends!) designed the characters and is chief animation director. Hiroki Mutaguchi is on Mashin design and Mashin mechanic direction. Sunghoo Park, the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Ninja Kamui director, is creative producer. UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS is producing the project. TMS Entertainment, Kodansha, and TV Asahi sit on the committee.
Art direction is Kazumaru Ando. Color design is Chiho Nakamura. Tomohiko Kan is on 3D supervision. Hitoshi Tamura is compositing director of photography. Keisuke Yanagi is editing. Shuhei Abe is sound director.
A two-cour order matters for this title. The 1990s show needed two separate seasons to get through CLAMP's two manga parts. A straight half-year block on a national Wednesday slot is the current team's bid to tell the Cephiro story without stopping in March to beg for more episodes.
