Jump Square Magazine has revealed that the new D. Gray-man Hallow anime season will premiere on July 4 in Japan. TMS Entertainment is handling animation, with Yoshiharu Ashino and scripts written by Michiko Yokote. The magazine also revealed that the new season will consist of 13 episodes.
Fans are understandably disappointed by the news as the anime currently sits at 103 episodes but there's still a large chunk of Katsura Hoshino's manga. With no new episodes since 2008, the expectation was for at least a 2-cour season, consisting of 24-26 episodes. Still, 13 episodes is better than no episodes at all. But just because the new season is only 13-episodes doesn't mean there won't be any additional episodes after that.
TMS likely wants to gauge interest after such a long hiatus between new episodes. If D. Gray-man Hallow still proves popular after all these years, expect more episodes to follow.
