McDonald’s put SpongeBob in a Luffy outfit and shows the whole Krusty Krab crew and Bikini Bottom inhabitants as different One Piece pirates and villains. The new Happy Meal commercial started streaming Monday. The chain’s X post called it the great Happy Meal era and dated the drop to arrive on September 15.
The ad follows an August 13 tease that showed has previously shown us SpongeBob as Monkey D. Luffy. This new ad fills in the rest of the crew and a few enemies. The current full McDonald’s list of items to collect is 15.
SpongeBob is Luffy. A second SpongeBob is Gear 5 Luffy. Patrick is Zoro. Sandy is Nami. Plankton is Usopp. Squidward is Sanji. Gary is Chopper. Pearl is Robin. Larry the Lobster is Franky. Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen is Brook. Mr. Krabs is Jinbe. Mermaid Man is Garp. Barnacle Boy is Koby. Mrs. Puff is Big Mom. The Flying Dutchman is Blackbeard.
That is a full Straw Hat lineup plus Marine cameos and two emperor-level gags. Squidward as Sanji and Mrs. Puff as Big Mom are the ones people will argue about in the comments. Two Luffys in one box wave is the chase math.
The promotion runs at participating restaurants in a long list of countries: the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, China, Korea, Indonesia, Germany, France, and more. Official One Piece news said Japan is not part of this rollout. If you want the figures in Tokyo, you can't sadly.
The current run of Hello Kitty x Godzilla Happy Meal toys should wrap September 14 in the U.S. so this set can start the next day. Toys that are available will vary by location.
After a daring escape from the Future Island Egghead, the Straw Hat Crew set their course for a legendary destination. Joined by the mighty Giant Warrior Pirates, they finally reach Elbaph, the long-awaited Land of Giants. New encounters with Giants, and long hoped for reunions unfold. A colossal new chapter begins as the crew heads into an adventure unlike anything before, all in the pursuit of the ultimate treasure, the “ONE PIECE!”
One Piece’s current anime Elbaph arc recently started in Japan on April 5 and is available to stream and watch on Crunchyroll now.
