SSS-Class Revival Hunter is getting a TV anime in January 2027. Crunchyroll will stream it worldwide except most of Asia, with the Indian subcontinent, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia still on the list. A teaser trailer and key visual went up with the date. The first look is Gongja Kim at the bottom of the hunter ranking, a glowing card overhead, and the Sword Emperor standing behind him.
The source material is from writer Sinnoa’s web novel, which started in November 2018, and the webtoon by artist Neida (with Bill K on illustrations in some English listings) that launched on KakaoPage in December 2020. Crunchyroll’s count is 151 webtoon episodes so far. English readers have been on Tapas, with Ize Press on print. Older English titles used Suicide Hunter. The anime is using Revival Hunter.
Official Synopsis: a monster tower appears, hunters climb it for loot and status. Gongja is F-rank and jealous of the Flame Emperor at the top. He teams with the Sword Emperor and gets a rare S-rank skill that only fires if he dies.
Hiroaki Sakurai directs at STUDIO fu. Sakurai’s credits include The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. and The Demon Girl Next Door. Scripts are Sayuri Oba (Romantic Killer). Character designs are Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Trigun, Overlord, A Place Further Than the Universe). STUDIO fu’s recent slate includes In the Clear Moonlit Dusk. Japanese coverage also tags the project as produced by HAYATE.
Takeo Otsuka voices Gongja. That is Aqua from Oshi no Ko. Satoshi Hino is the Sword Emperor. That is Kyojuro Rengoku from Demon Slayer. Hino’s Japanese comment framed the Sword Emperor as a loud, forward partner who rides along as Gongja’s back-line ghost and carries the banter as much as the fights.
Tower-hunter anime is a crowded winter shelf if January 2027 holds. This one sells the death-gated skill and the two-man act with the Sword Emperor, not another silent overpowered mute. Sakurai’s comedy-action background is an interesting match for a series that lives on resets and talk. Yoshimatsu on designs is the line that will decide whether the manhwa faces survive the jump.
Crunchyroll’s territory note matters if you are in East Asia outside the named SEA countries. Everyone else on the CR map gets the simulcast window when the January premiere hits.
