Doraemon has a March date and a train that runs on time. Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Joki Jikansha, when translated to English it comes out as Nobita's Steam Time Locomotive, opens in Japan on March 5, 2027. A teaser and visual went out with the date lock. It is the 46th entry in the theatrical line.
The trip is in 19th-century Victorian London. Nobita and the usual gang time-travel there. The key gadget is the steam time locomotive, a glowing-rail engine Doraemon sends off with "Departure, all aboard." The poster puts Doraemon and Nobita in period clothes in front of the engine, like a souvenir shot they should not have been able to take.
Rushio Moriyama directs. He has storyboarded and episode-directed the TV anime since 2020. This is his first Doraemon feature. Makoto Ueda writes the script. That is the Europe Kikaku playwright behind The Tatami Galaxy, Tatami Time Machine Blues, Penguin Highway, and stage pieces that already treat time as a toy. Putting him on a steam locomotive aimed at spring break kids is the credit that will get adults into the seat next to them.
The 45th film, Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil, opened February 27, 2026. The series still uses that late-winter / early-March holiday window. Shin-Ei Animation, Shogakukan, TV Asahi, and ADK remain on the copyright slug. Fujiko F. Fujio's original manga is the well the features keep drawing from.
An earlier super teaser, out when the title landed in July, already leaned on time as the theme. Lines about time flowing equally, the future existing because time passes, and Doraemon's old warning that the future can swing on a small turn. Dress-Up Camera and the classic Time Machine sketched in. Then the new engine. Then Doraemon in a top hat and cape.
No English theatrical date sat in the teaser package, however these films usually travel later through Asian territories and eventual home video. March 5 is the Japan appointment. Spring 2027 school holiday is the commercial reason.
Ueda writing a Doraemon movie after Tatami Time Machine Blues is the crossover cinephiles will screenshot. Moriyama coming off years of weekly episodes is how the committee keeps the TV show's timing in a 90-minute train set. The steam engine is the toy shelf item that will exist in stores for fans to grab after the movie.
