The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 put two new faces in the third promotional video and locked the first episode arrival time. Tokyo MX airs it October 7 at 10:30 p.m. d Anime Store streams it 30 minutes earlier at 10:00. AT-X and BS NTV also carry it. Other services were listed without names in the Friday drop.
Akari Komiyama is Mia Whitlock. Nobuhiko Okamoto is Scarlet. Both show up in the new PV. The rest of the booth is the 2021 group.

Manabu Kurihara directs again at ENGI. Deko Akao is on series scripts. Yosuke Ito designs the characters. 40mP writes the score and the theme lyrics. Kome sings the opening "Kono Shinzo ni Hanataba wo" (A Bouquet for This Heart). Kagura Nana returns for the ending "Hakuchumu" (Daydreams). Check out the new promo video below:
Kadokawa had this season in July 2026, then slid it to October. The sequel itself was announced in July 2022, a year after season 1. Season 1 opened with a one-hour special in July 2021 and ran 12 episodes. Funimation streamed it and built an English dub. Crunchyroll still hosts that first season. No new Western day-and-date card came with Friday’s PV.
The novels are Nigoju and Umibozu, MF Bunko J. Volume 1 was November 2019 after the 15th MF Bunko J newcomer prize. Volume 13 hit July 2025. Yen Press has the English books. Mugiko’s manga in Monthly Comic Alive started May 2020 and ended October 2023 in six volumes. A spinoff novel, Charlotte wa Tada, Jiken o Tokitai. Tantei wa Mo, Shindeiru. Code:RED, by Hoko Hinachi and Minori Chigusa, started May 2024 with Nigoju supervising.
The plot the first season sold: trouble-magnet Kimihiko becomes assistant to silver-haired detective Siesta after a mid-air hijacking. They spend three years chasing the enemies of the world. Siesta dies. A year later Nagisa shows up with a client’s request and the will of a dead detective. Season 2’s own copy says the truth of that death is already out, and it is still too early for an epilogue.
Mia and Scarlet are the new pieces on that board. The PV is where they get introduced. Staff have not posted full character cards in English beyond the names. Okamoto coming off other recent leads is the recognizable hire. Komiyama is the new girl in the mystery mix.
Four years from the sequel announce to a TV date is a long hold for a 2021 show. July to October is a short hop after that. ENGI keeping Kurihara, Akao, and Ito means the look and the script lane stay in-house. 40mP on both themes keeps the vocaloid-adjacent sound the first season used. Kagura Nana back on the ED is the continuity flex.
October 7 is a Wednesday in Japan. d Anime Store at 10:00 is the first legal window. MX half an hour later is the broadcast stamp. Episode count is still unlisted. Cour length is still unlisted. Whether Crunchyroll or someone else takes season 2 day-and-date is still unlisted.
