The Genius Prince's Guide To Raising A Nation Out Of Debt (Hey, How About Treason?) was announced in January 2021 and is scheduled to air in Japan in January 2022. It is based on the light novels by Tōru Toba, the series is being produced by NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan and will be animated by the Yokohama Animation Laboratory. The animated TV series adaptation series should begin streaming via Funimation's streaming service Winter 2022.
The Japanese voice cast includes Soma Saito (Moriarty The Patriot), Rie Takahashi (Re-ZERO: Starting Life In Another World-), Yoko Hikasa (Arifurta: From Common Place To World's Strongest), along with Sayaka Senbongi (Kageki Shojo!!), Nao Toyama (Granblue Fantasy: The Animation), Yuki Sakakihara, and Yuki Nakashima.
The story begins when the Crown Prince, now Prince Regent, Wein Salema Arbalest's father suddenly collapses from illness and Prince Wein inherits The Kingdom of Natra. The citizens of the kingdom love him and he tends to uphold his image as a genius and leads the country with an iron hand. Behind the scenes, he attempts to ignore his duties as prince and secretly hopes for the opportunity to sell off the country of his birth and escape the heavy responsibility of leading the people and running the country. He is supported by a very pretty, intelligent and light-haired aide, Ninym Ralei, who tends to cause him torment as he tries to escape the duty that was so abruptly shoved upon him.
