Considering the massive amount of science fiction and cyberpunk stories inspired by Blade Runner it comes as no surprise that the franchise is ever-expanding in a number of different story-telling mediums.
In addition to the ongoing Blade Runner: Origin comics from Titan, fans now have a brand new anime series to look forward to. Thanks to a cooperation between Crunchyroll and Toonami, Blade Runner: Black Lotus will premiere on Adult Swim this weekend.
The synopsis states that Blade Runner: Black Lotus takes place in Los Angeles 2032 and centers around a young woman who wakes up with no memories and possessing deadly skills. The only clues to her mystery are a locked data device and a tattoo of a black lotus. Putting together the pieces, she must hunt down the people responsible for her brutal and bloody past to find the truth of her lost identity.
We had the opportunity to speak with the English voice cast behind the anime including Stephen Root (Office Space, Get Out), Will Yun Lee (Altered Carbon), and Jessica Henwick (Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Iron Fist) during a recent press junket. Chatting with them, we learned a lot, and we included our exclusive ten-minute portion of the interview below, both in audio and video form.
Be sure to let us know what you think of this interview in the comments, and sound off with whether or not you'll be tuning into Blade Runner: Black Lotus this weekend!
