Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship! has an opening night and a channel to watch it on. The Aniplex One Focus stream locked the television debut for October 4 at 9:30 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX. Yomiuri TV and Chukyo TV are also on the board. Crunchyroll simulcasts it.
The songs came with the date. Rock band FLOW performs the opening, "Unstoppable." Metal band ASTERISM performs the ending, "My Way." ASTERISM already previewed a slice of that track in an earlier theme PV and played it live at AnimagiC 2026 in Mannheim.
This is the TV adaptation of Ryuto's light novel, illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. Fujimi Shobo has been publishing it since 2019 after it started online. Sixteen volumes were out by late 2025, with volume 17 dated for May 2026. The series and its manga had passed 1.8 million copies across print and digital by February 2026. Shinichi Matsui draws the ComicWalker manga. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the novels and the manga in English.
The story for it goes like this: Office worker Satou Takahiro wakes up inside the sci-fi game he used to play. He is now Hiro, sitting in a loaded starship, with mercenary work, space pirates, colonies, and a crew that the publisher describes without blushing. The Japanese title adds the long-term goal: live free as a mercenary and buy a detached house.
Makoto Furukawa voices Hiro. Konomi Inagaki is Mimi, listed as his love interest. Anna Nagase is Elma Willrose, his partner on the ship. Haruka Shiraishi is Serena Holes, a noble's daughter and military officer. Those four are the names the July trailer and this week's date drop keep repeating.
Norihiko Nagahama directs at Studio A-Cat. He previously handled I've Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills and The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army Was a Human. Takamitsu Kono has series composition, a credit that also sits on The Beginning After the End and Highspeed Etoile. Masami Sueoka designed the characters. Jin Aketagawa is sound director. Kenta Higashiohji wrote the score.
A-Cat is the same studio on The Beginning After the End, a show that leaned on 3DCG for action. A space-mercenary series with ship combat is a natural place for that toolkit. The announcement does not publish an episode count or a cour length.
The adaptation was first announced on February 6, 2025. Staff and an October 2026 window followed in 2026. Theme artists landed in July. Saturday's livestream was the last missing piece: Sunday night, 9:30, Tokyo MX is when the anime finally arrives.
Fall 2026 already has a pile of fantasy television. This one is the isekai that leaves the swords at home and puts the protagonist in a cockpit. Hiro knows the game. The novels use that knowledge the way a lot of game-world isekai do, then spend the rest of the page on contracts, pirates, and the crew.
Crunchyroll is the international door for fans to watch it across the globe the same night it airs in Japan. No additional exclusive window was attached to this date reveal.
