Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 put new character art of Fran and Teacher on the official X account, a month before Japanese broadcast. The pair get an updated look for the sequel. TV starts October 7. ABEMA goes a week earlier, September 30, as a one-week exclusive ahead of terrestrial. TOKYO MX lists Wednesdays at midnight from October 7. HIDIVE streams Season 1 and has Season 2 in its Fall 2026 lineup.
Shinji Ishihira directs at C2C, the same studio as Season 1. Kazunobu Shimizu is assistant director. Takahiro Nagano handles series composition and scripts. Atsuko Saito is on character designs and chief animation direction. Yasuharu Takanashi of Team-MAX scores. Llo remains the novel illustrator. The August trailer already framed the Sky Island stretch and put Lich, voiced by Show Hayami, in front of Fran and the talking sword. Opening theme is "DREAM OF BUTTERFLY" by FZMZ. Ending is "Baribari Buddy" by Hanabie.
Ai Kakuma is back as Fran. Shinichiro Miki is back as Teacher, the man who woke up as a sword. Returning names around them include Hiroki Goto as Jet, Yuma Uchida as Jean du Vix, and Shiori Izawa as Nameless. Season 1 finished in December 2022 and announced a second cour on the spot. Four years later the sequel is an October show instead of a rumor.
Yuu Tanaka posted the web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro from October 2015 to February 2024. Micro Magazine prints it under GC Novels with Llo’s art. Twenty Japanese volumes are out. Seven Seas has the English novels. The setup is still the same hook HIDIVE uses: a guy reincarnates as a sentient blade, a black cat-eared girl named Fran picks him up while running from slavers, and the two cut a path through anyone who treats people as stock. Season 2 moves that act onto Sky Island and a lich who is built as the next wall.
The new visual gives Fran and Teacher a slightly updated look. The August key art already showed them facing Lich. This post is the one-month warning with broadcast times attached. HIDIVE is the English service on the record, but stay tuned for info on where to catch it as it releases.
C2C’s first season sold the odd-couple combat: a kid who wants to get stronger and a sword that lectures. Ishihira’s other credits include Fairy Tail and TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy-. Saito’s recent sheet work includes Shangri-La Frontier. That is the crew walking into Sky Island. If you liked Season 1 as comfort isekai with a cat girl and a magic stick that talks, the calendar is set.
