Warner Bros. Japan announced today the premiere date for Suicide Squad Isekai. The highly anticipated anime series will debut on Friday, July 5 at 24:30 JST, effectively July 6 at 12:30 a.m. JST. It will be broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS11, while streaming on ABEMA at the same time.

Alongside the premiere date, Warner Bros. Japan shared a new trailer for the series. Not only does it give us a glimpse of the notorious criminal misfits -- Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark -- but also seems to confirm Prime Video as a release platform. Natalie.mu also names Hulu among the numerous international streaming options for the series after its initial broadcast. It's possible that the series could also land on Max in the United States, since that is the home of most DC shows and movies. Steaming details for international audiences have not yet been announced. The series is also expected to receive an English dub at some point.

The latest trailer is filled with fun, explosive action in what looks to be an ambitious project. Suicide Squad Isekai is an anime television series based on the Suicide Squad team from the comics by DC Comics.  It's directed by Eri Osada, with the series composition and the screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara.

Produced by Wit Studio, Suicide Squad Isekai follows this group of notorious criminals who have been assembled by Amanda Waller for a secret and dangerous mission. Sent to a world of swords and magic, orcs and dragons, the team is captured by the Kingdom's soldiers and sent to prison. With just 72 hours until the bomb on their neck explodes, they negotiate with Queen Aldora for their release, but only if they can defeat the hostile Imperial army.

The official synopsis reads:

In the crime-ridden Gotham city, Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S., has assembled a group of notorious criminals for a mission: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface and King Shark. These DC Super-Villains are sent into an otherworldly realm that’s connected to this world through a gate. It’s a world of swords and magic where orcs rampage and dragons rule the skies—an “ISEKAI”!

Harley and others go on a rampage after arriving in ISEKAI but are captured by the Kingdom's soldiers and sent to prison. They only have 72 hours before the bomb on their neck explodes. The deadline is fast approaching. After negotiations with Queen Aldora, the condition for liberation was the conquest of the hostile Imperial army. They have no choice but to throw themselves head-first into the front line of battle.

They run; they die. They lose; they die. With their lives on the line, can Harley Quinn and The Suicide Squad survive in ISEKAI? Brace yourselves for the pulse-pounding saga of the elite task force known as the “Suicide Squad” as they embark on a jaw-dropping adventure! Let the party begin!

Warner Bros. Japan is actually working on other DC anime projects, including the recently announced Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, a sequel to 2018's Batman Ninja. We'll get more information and details about both of these series next month during the "Warner Bros. Japan presents Suicide Squad ISEKAI and Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League" panel at Anime Expo on July 4, 2024. This includes a first look at Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League and probably an expanded preview of Suicide Squad Isekai.
