A time-bending mystery that became an anime back in 2017 is getting its source material in English. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed Sagrada Reset, the light novel series by Yutaka Kono that inspired both a 24-episode anime and a two-part live-action film.

Seven Seas announced the license yesterday during its Wonderful Wednesdays event, which featured six new licenses in total.

When Sagrada Reset Releases In English

This is a digital-only release. According to Seven Seas, "Sagrada Reset Book 1 - A Cat, a Ghost, and a Revolutionary Sunday (Light Novel) will be available for the first time in the English language in March 2027 on digital platforms as part of Seven Seas' Airship imprint." Seven Seas credits Yutaka Kono as the author and Torocchi as the illustrator for its edition.

Seven Seas has not announced a print edition, so readers hoping for physical copies on their shelves will have to wait and see whether that changes later.

What Is Sagrada Reset About?

The story takes place in Sakurada, a town where many residents have supernatural abilities. Seven Seas describes it this way:

"All it takes is the word 'reset,' and the world can lose three days. In Sakurada, a town full of people with special abilities, there lives Misora, a girl who can rewind time, and Kei, a boy who retains his memories when she does. When the two join forces on trips to the past, where will they end up?"

The hook is in how the two powers fit together. Misora can rewind the world, but she forgets what happened afterward. Kei remembers everything perfectly, which lets the pair change the past with full knowledge of what went wrong. Fans of slow-burn mysteries with a heavy emotional core should feel right at home.

The Road From 2009 Novels To Anime

Kono's original series ran from 2009 to 2012 under Kadokawa's Sneaker Bunko imprint, finishing at seven volumes. The novels were later reissued in Japan ahead of the 2017 adaptations.

The anime adaptation was produced by david production and directed by Shinya Kawatsura, running for 24 episodes from April to September 2017. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime for North America at the time. A two-part live-action film directed by Yoshihiro Fukagawa also opened in Japanese theaters that same spring. The Seven Seas release gives English readers an official way to experience the story as Kono originally wrote it, which is a nice bonus for anyone who watched the anime and wondered how the novels handle its twists.

Seven Seas' Other New Licenses

Sagrada Reset was not the only new title Seven Seas revealed. Here is what else joined the lineup:

  • The Mercenary Bomber Explodes All Cheaters by Karaku Yuuki and Urashima Tsushima, an isekai manga about a bomb-loving mercenary named Jack who gets summoned to another world. Volume 1 arrives in October 2027.
  • Two Cats and a Dog by Haru Fujimori, a full-color slice-of-life manga about an artist living with a devoted dog and two very different cats. It arrives in September 2027 in an oversized edition.
  • Secret Relationships by McQueen Studio, a Boys' Love office romance webtoon that inspired a live-action series. Volume 1 arrives in August 2027 under the Seven Seas Webtoons label.
  • Miotsukushi: Backdoor Channels by YUZUHA OUGI, a Mature-rated political Boys' Love manga about a genius hacker hired by a politician's secretary to catch a spy. Volume 1 arrives in July 2027 under the Seven Seas BL label.
  • Venus Mission: I Was an Assassin-for-Hire Who Died, Now I'm Hunting Heroes in Another World, an audiobook by MIYABI and Eito Nishikawa, read by Nicholas Corda, under the Siren imprint.
