The first season of the anime debuted on Tokyo MX and BS Fuji in October 2021, and the final episode was broadcast in December of that same year. The first season will receive a Special Edition on July 8 that will be broadcast on the same channels as before and will feature new footage. The story picks up where the Special Edition leaves off in the second season. The cast and crew of the show will be coming back for the second season.
Akihiro Hino, the founder and president of Level 5, is credited as the chief director and original creator of the anime. In addition to these roles, he is also writing and supervising the scripts for the anime. At OLM, the animation is being directed by Shigeharu Takahashi. The original character designs belong to Takuzo Nagano, while Yji Ikeda is the one responsible for designing those characters for animation. Toshihiko Kuriaki is credited for his contributions to the artistic concepts. Ken'ichiro Saig is the one responsible for composing the music. Tanaka Ry is in charge of the audio direction.
The project will include an anime series for television, a game, a collaboration with Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, toys produced by Bandai, and an anime spinoff for the internet titled "After School." In November of 2021, the game was made available for the PlayStation 4 and the Switch.
The events of the story take place after an invasion has killed off ninety percent of the human population. Those who survived the invasion were taken to a safe haven where their every move was recorded and their memories of the ordeal were wiped clean. It has been decided that three teenagers from the shelter will be the pilots of the three machines that will combine to form the Musashi robot, which is made out of a substance known as Megatronium alloy. The series strikes a balance between robot action and everyday life in school.
