Funimation has announced that the horror comedy anime Mieruko-chan has joined its Fall 2021 Anime Season lineup! The horror comedy series that follows Miko, a high school student with the unfortunate ability to see terrifying and gruesome horrors and ghosts, as she tries to balance her school life with her newly acquired sense.
The anime is from KADOKAWA and studio Passione (Higuarashi: When They Cry - GOU, Citrus) and is directed by Yuki Ogawa (FLCL Progressive).
The Mieruko-chan anime series is based upon the manga of the same name which was written and illustrated by Tomoki Izumi. The anime voice cast includes Sora Amamiya (KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!, APPARE-RANMAN!) as Miko Yotsuya, Kaede Hondo (BOFURI, Mirai) as Hana Yurikawa and Ayane Sakura (My Hero Academia, Non Non Biyori) as Yuria Niguredou. The anime series is set to premiere on October 3, 2021.
The manga originally appeared online in Kadokawa's ComicWalker in November of 2018. It began being published in print in April of 2019 and has so far been released into five tankōbon volumes as of earlier this year.
High school is tough, especially for Miko who has the unfortunate ability to see horrifying ghotsts and spirits that haunt her and those around her.
