Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut, the anime that sees the first person in space being a vampire, is officially heading to Funimation as part of their Fall 2021 anime season lineup. They've released a new poster to celebrate the announcement, so make sure and check it out below, as well as the official trailer!
Countries are pushing to be the first to get to space first and in Studio Arvo Animation (We Never Learn: Bokuben, Monster Girl Doctor) and director Akitoshi Yokoyama version of this post-war Earth, the Nosferatu Project holds the key.
The anime is based upon the Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut light novel series. The science-fiction/fantasy series is written by Keisuke Makino and illustrated by Karei. Since December 2016 there have been six volumes published and a manga adaptation illustrated by Sojihogu debuted online in March of 2018.
The voice cast for the upcoming anime includes Megumi Hayashibara (Neon Genesis Evangelion), Koki Uchiyama (My Hero Academia), Hino (Overlord), and Mikako Komatsu (Jujutsu Kaisen).
Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut is set to begin streaming this month (October 2021) via Funimation's offcial streaming app and service.
