Makoto Shinkai's WEATHERING WITH YOU Returning To U.S. Theaters This July

GKids! is bringing Makoto Shinkai's Weathering With You back to North American theaters for a special two-day screening this July. Theater locations and advance ticket purchasing is now live.

GKids! has revealed that Makoto Shinkai's award-winning anime film Weathering With You will be returning to North American theaters for another limited run. The film will screen on July 25 (dub) and July 27 (sub). This will give those Shinkai fans that missed last year's January 2020 limited run a chance to see the film on the big screen. Of course, the film is also currently streaming on HBO Max for those who are still a bit nervous about venturing to a movie theater.

GKids! previously released the film on blu-ray and DVD in North America back on  September 15, 2020. A special collector's edition also went on sale last November. 

After picking up a major win at the 13th Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the film's soundtrack, from popular J-rock band RADWIMPS won in the Animation Album of The Year cateogry at Japan's 34th Gold Disc Awards.

The summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then one day, Hodaka meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong-willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…
