Studio Madhouse's stylistic, sci-fi slice-of-life Sonny Boy TV anime has released a new trailer and key visual ahead of the original work's premiere this July.

What happens when summer school student suddenly find themselves drifting across dimensions, acquiring supernatural abilities? That's the premise of the unique-looking Sonny Boy TV anime from Studio Madhouse. Check out a new trailer and key visual below.

Shingo Natsume (ACCA: 13,Space Dandy) is crediting with creating the series and will serve as the director and writer. Hisashi Euguchi (Perfect Blue) provided conceptual artwork with Norifumi Kugai (ACCA: 13) crafting the more polished character designs. Shinichiro Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Kids on the Slope fame is overseeing the music for the show.

Sonny Boy is definitly one of the new Summer anime we'll be keeping an eye on this July.  It will have to stand out in a crowded field that includes Part 2 of the second season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a SlimeMiss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid season 2, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! season 2, I'm Standing on a Million Lives season 2 and more.

Funimation will steaming the show in North America.

Empty classrooms, boring days. It was supposed to be a normal summer vacation just like any other. Suddenly, the school begins to drift through another dimension, and 36 boys and girls are left there, awakening to their supernatural abilities. Amidst the whirlpool of questions that come to mind one after another, survival in a supernatural world begins.
