Netflix put an English-dubbed promo up on Thursday for The Ramparts of Ice season 2, the same day the new cours started. The clip is an English version of the second promotional video, built around THE BEAT GARDEN's opening theme "Escort." Superfly handles the ending, "Hanakage."
Season 2 premiered Thursday on TBS and 27 affiliated channels at 11:56 p.m. Japan time, 10:56 a.m. EDT. It is streaming on Netflix and on other services in Japan. The first season used the same Thursday slot, so the return is a calendar match to what slot it had before. Check out the new promo trailer down below:
The show adapts Kōcha Agasawa's manga Koori no Jōheki, also called Ice Castle Wall. Agasawa is the You and I Are Polar Opposites writer. The webtoon ran on the LINE Manga app from January 2020 to April 2022. Shueisha reorganized it into volumes and shipped the 14th and final book in February 2025. MyAnimeList has put circulation, digital included, at 2.8 million copies.
Here is a short description of the story for the anime: Koyuki Hikawa is the aloof high school student who cannot get close to people and keeps one up on purpose. She spends school alone until Minato Amemiya keeps closing the gap. The four-person knot is Koyuki, Minato, popular girl Miki Azumi, and laid-back Yōta Hino. Netflix's season copy calls it awkward, occasionally frustrating, and still a student story. Agasawa's book earned that reputation on purpose. It landed at No. 15 for male readers in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook, picked up a 2023 Shogakukan Manga Award nomination, placed second in the Vertical Scroll Comic section of the second Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards in May 2024, and ranked No. 2 on AnimeJapan's sixth Most Wanted Anime Adaptation poll in 2023.
Studio KAI is back, with Mankyū directing. Mankyū's other credits include Pui Pui Molcar the Movie: MOLMAX, a Sumikkogurashi film, and The IDOLM@STER Shiny Colors. Yasuhiro Nakanishi is on series scripts, with Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, and Mecha-Ude behind him. Miki Ogino designs the characters. Kanade Sakuma and Natsumi Tabuchi share the score.
The Japanese cast carries over. Anna Nagase is Koyuki. Fūka Izumi is Miki. Shōya Chiba is Minato. Satoshi Inomata is Yota. Chiaki Kobayashi plays Tsubasa Igarashi. Sakura Shinfuku is Tsukiko Shimojima. Akari Kitō is Momoka Kuriki. Kakeru Hatano is Yūki Azumi. Natsumi Kawaida is Akine Atagawa.
Season 1 already had an English dub on Netflix from day one, April 2, 2026. Dubbing databases list Erika Harlacher as Koyuki, Brianna Knickerbocker as Miki, Kyle McCarley as Minato, and Jason Griffith as Yota, with Kayli Mills, Ryan Colt Levy, Laura Stahl, Caleb Yen, and Deneen Melody on the supporting bench. Thursday's trailer is the dubbed promo, not a new cast sheet. Netflix has not posted a fresh English voice list for season 2 alongside the video.
The first cours ran 14 episodes, April 2 through the July 2 finale that announced the return. The October 1 date has been public since that night. A teaser visual in July framed four gazes that do not meet. The September trailer, the one now dubbed, leaned on shifting relationships and "Escort." THE BEAT GARDEN is a four-piece. Superfly is the closer, which is a louder credit than most school-romance endings get.
Today's drop is the English-language version of a video Japanese viewers already had. The actual season is the news under it. Episode 1 is on Netflix now, in the same global window the first cours used. TBS is airing it weekly in the late-night block. No episode count for season 2 has been printed with the trailer. The manga is finished at 14 volumes, so the second cours is working from a complete book, not an open serial.
