The Attack on Titan 3 demo at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 does what the marketing promised for fans. You play through a slice of the story and land on one of the anime's biggest fights.
The booth build at Makuhari Messe puts you in the Season 3 clash between Levi Ackerman and Zeke, then asks you to learn the new combat on the way there. The events have been retooled so a player-made Survey Corps soldier fights beside Levi instead of sitting through the scene as a spectator. The changes are there to teach the systems to players right at the start.
Koei Tecmo and Omega Force are treating this as the series wrap-up. The game is arrives on December 10, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Development producer Hideo Suzuki has called it the first time the full Attack on Titan story sits in one game, from the Survey Corps' early operations through the end of the original work. Director Hayato Iwata said the new protagonist changes the angle on scenes people already know. The avatar is a senior cadet a generation closer to Levi and Hange than to Eren, with a mechanical-engineering background.
Omni-Directional Mobility gear is still the toy people come for. Swinging is quick and readable. You point the character and go. The catch is spatial. The scout flies where they are facing, not where the camera is looking, so you have to square the body with the route you want even if the view is pointed somewhere else. That problem is not as bad once blades come out. A lot of targeting is automatic. The basic loop is attack or dodge. Miss the read and a Titan can still tag you or grab you. The preview floor did not turn those grabs into a constant wipe, but the threat is built into the fight. Titans also hit harder and with more variety than they did in the older Omega Force games, which is why the nape slash itself is simpler this time. Land the hook and the attack can flow without the old timing puzzle of reeling in and tapping the strike at the exact frame.
Special attacks sit on their own buttons and are not always ready. When one lands, the demo starts looking like the show: the burst, the camera, the finish. The build limits how often you can fire them. Dump every special on the first few Titans and you walk into Zeke short on tools. Hold them back and you spend longer on the fodder. That choice is the extra layer in a system that is otherwise lean.
Koei Tecmo's own control sheet matches what the floor demo was teaching. Hold L2 to stay in three-dimensional movement. Square throws the hook and starts the cut. Circle is a boost dash that can become a slide, a spinning slash after an anchor, or a drop from a Titan's body. Cross covers jump and evade. R2 opens a focus state that slows the fight for cleaner targeting, plus a pair of combat arts on cooldown. A body art with Levi unlocks mid-demo as a joint attack. Nape shots are easier to connect than they were in Attack on Titan 2, though hitting from behind still pays extra. Some Titans guard the nape or rip the hook free, so you break a leg or an arm until the weak point lights up.
The Nine Titans are in this one for the first time in the game series. Each fight is supposed to demand a different read. The War Hammer Titan changing weapons mid-bout is the example Suzuki has used. The TGS build did not turn that roster into the whole session. It used Zeke.
Away from the demo pods, the publisher spent the show filling in the rest of the product. A September 18 stage with Suzuki and Iwata walked through private-room talks, including inviting Hange in and sitting down with Levi for tea after the dialogue choices go right. Scout Missions send your squad beyond the Walls to kill Titans, plant bases, and stretch the map. Those outposts become fast-travel points. Materials feed gear upgrades. Units can call for help. Squad members can die for good if a Titan eats them. The TGS playable build did not include that field layer.
On September 20, Yuu Kobayashi (Sasha) and Eori Mikami (Crista) joined Suzuki for a voice-actor stage. MAPPA is making a new opening, and the panel showed color scripts and key art from that sequence. The same hour premiered a game-original scene about Bertholdt's sleeping habits, with Jean and Connie dragging the player into the joke. The booth also put up a Colossal Titan head balloon and handed demo players a random film-style bookmark.
Suzuki told Japanese press the team built this one as if it could be the last Omega Force Attack on Titan game. Graphics have moved closer to photoreal skin and environments so the Titans look like warped people instead of cartoon giants. Main-story playtime has been described in the 30-to-40-hour range before extra missions.
The anime wrapped in late 2023. Three years later the floor at TGS was still lining up to swing at Zeke. The writer who ran the demo called the combat fun and the greatest-hits framing easy to sell, then said they might wait past launch before buying. For anyone who wants that Levi fight this year, December 10 is the date on the box.
