LUPIN III: THE FIRST Is The Third Feature From GKIDS Returning To Theaters With 4DX Screenings This Weekend

GKIDS is bringing anime feature films back to the United States theaters in 2021, and this weekend will see the third of the four ventures receive select screenings in the form of Lupin III: The First.

The pandemic has had a tremendous effect on how the masses are consuming media of any genre. Both live-action and animated features alike have had trouble reaching audiences due to the mass theater closures COVID has caused.

GKIDS is an animation producer and distributor, and in 2021 they have been bringing back acclaimed animated features to the theaters in the United States with screenings of four beloved properties - both in Japanese with subtitles and in English dubbing.

The first two released by GKIDS and Fathom Events were Children of the Sea and Weathering With You, with Promare set to screen before the end of the year. However, this weekend, it is Lupin III: The First, which will be screening in select theaters.

Lupin III needs no introduction with manga and anime lovers. It is a franchise that has been alive since the '60s, with the title character a charismatic favorite amongst anime fans. Now fans will have a chance to experience the character in CG with Lupin III: The First as it screens in select theaters.

The iconic “gentleman thief” Lupin III returns in an action-packed, continent-spanning adventure, as Lupin III and his colorful underworld companions race to uncover the secrets of the mysterious Bresson Diary, before it falls into the hands of a dark cabal that will stop at nothing to resurrect the Third Reich.

The gang undertakes trap-filled tombs, aerial escapades and daring prison escapes with the trademark wit and visual finesse that have made LUPIN THE 3RD one of the most storied animation franchises in the world, in a thrilling new caper that is sure to delight fans old and new.

Lupin III: The First is playing in select theaters on August 29th & 31st, with select screenings in 4DX.
