Geeked Week hit its animation block today and Netflix has gone hard into anime. In addition to a trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and a first look at Skull Island, the streaming giant unveiled today a poster for Moonrise.
From novelist and screenwriter Tou Ubukata, director Masahi Koizuka, and Wit Studio, Moonrise is described as "an exciting and visually breathtaking anime that explores the vast hardships of exploring outer space." The official synopsis reads:
Set in a futuristic world where humans inhabit both the Earth and the Moon, a young man from Earth enlists in the army to attack rebels on the Moon, only to find that his former best friend has become his enemy.
True to its description, the first poster for Moonrise is, indeed, visually breathtaking, filled with vibrant colors that juxtapose the dystopian futuristic world. The anime is being handled by Wit Studio, the acclaimed company behind the first three seasons of the smash hit Attack on Titan.
No premiere date was released, but today's poster should provide plenty of reason for fans of Wit Studio to be excited. Wit Studio is coming off the recent release of Ranking of Kings, which received glowing reviews, and is teaming up with CloverWorks on Spy x Family.
