As a result of the partnership agreement between Crunchyroll and FUNimation, two of the biggest anime streamers have decided to no longer compete against one another each season for new anime shows being released by various studios such as Trigger, Madhouse and many others.  This form of competition gave a profound advantage to the Japanese studios in negotiations as they were able to play one company against the other.  Under the new deal, Crunchyroll and FUNimation will bid together on new titles, with Crunchyroll streaming subtitled episodes and FUNimation streaming English dubs.  While sizable companies in their own right, Crunchyroll x FUNimation will still have to compete against the likes of Netflix, Daisuki, Amazon Prime, Hulu and The Anime Network.
