The live-action television series adaptation of Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You manga was announced on Tuesday by Netflix and TV Tokyo along with a fresh teaser image, more cast members, and the March 30 worldwide Netflix premiere date.
The manga is based in in Hokkaido. Sawako Kuronuma, a 15-year-old high school freshman known as Sadako by her peers due to her similarity to the heroine from The Ring, has always been regarded with dread and mistrust due to her appearance. She is said to be able to see ghosts and curse people, according to schoolyard rumors. She is essentially a nice and innocent girl who only wants to be helpful, despite her menacing demeanor.
She has been avoided for so long that she no longer understands the concept of establishing friends. Everything changes when Kazehaya, a popular boy, starts talking to her. She can't express how grateful she is to Kazehaya for providing her with the opportunities to see a new world, make new friends, and interact with a variety of individuals. A romantic love slowly but definitely develops between the two as they conquer the challenges that lie in their way.
The new cast members for the live-action series include:
- Kaito Sakurai as Ryū Sanada
- Rinka Kumada as Ayane Yano
- Riho Nakamura as Chizuru Yoshida
- Naho Toda as Yōko Kuronuma
- Hiroyuki Hirayama as Kitao Kuronuma
- Shōhei Miura as Kazuichi Arai

- Ōji Suzuka (The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbye, live-action Horimiya, Hoshizora no Mukō no Kuni) stars as Shōta Kazahaya
The program is a collaboration between Netflix and TV Tokyo. Directors Takehiko Shinj and Takeo Kikuchi (live-action Tokyo Alice, Hello, Goodbye, and Tais Shiy yo) have already helmed live-action versions of Your Lie in April, I Give My First Love to You, and Beyond the Memories. The scripts are being written by Hayato Miyamoto.
The manga narrates the tale of Sawako Kuronuma, sometimes known as Sadako (from The Ring) due to her dismal appearance and long, black hair. A friendship between Sawako and the well-liked Shta Kazahaya develops into a relationship.
