Suzuki said:
"I am very happy to announce that I will be voicing Ivy again, following on from the Drama CD. I am very excited...! I am so happy to be able to travel together again with Sora, played by Tamura-san. In the beginning of the story, Ivy is almost killed by her parents and the villagers as an unwanted child, which is a cruel reality for a young girl. She wants to live, so she sets out on a journey alone with her small body. I will do my best to make this a work that people will love, while watching how she grows up in the anime while being touched by the kindness of others!"
Tamura also commented:
"I am very happy to be able to communicate with Ivy, and I am looking forward to seeing her not only in voice but also in anime! I will do my best to convey various emotions to everyone through my voice!"

Beginning in August of 2018, the novel was initially presented in the form of a serialization on the website for novel self-publishing in Japan known as Shousetsuka ni Narou. The first volume of its print version is set to be issued by TO BOOKS in November 2019, while the ninth book is expected to come out in June of the same year. The first chapter of the To Fukino-illustrated manga adaptation was released in July 2020 in TO BOOKS' Comic Corona magazine. The manga's fifth volume is scheduled to be published in Japan in June of this year.
Seven Seas Entertainment is responsible for the publication of the English editions of both the light novel and manga adaptations, and they describe the original light book series below:
In Ivy’s world, stars are everything. She’s a Tamer, born to subdue monsters and animals, but she was also born starless! With her life in danger, Ivy flees into the forest where she befriends a weak little slime named Sora—the one creature she can tame. Together, the unlikely pair set off on a journey, salvaging rubbish to survive. Along the way they’ll win hearts, evade danger, and discover there’s more to starless Ivy than meets the eye!
