Goku Day was filled with all sorts of fun celebrations and surprise announcements dedicated to the main protagonist of Dragon Ball. But before the day was over, there was one major reveal that will have fans of Super Dragon Ball Heroes filled with bittersweet emotions.

First the exciting announcement: a new digital card game called Dragon Ball Super Divers is coming. The latest digital card game was revealed today with all new details courtesy of an interview between Victory Jump Editor Victory Uchida and producer Akai.

Dragon Ball Super Divers is a new Dragon Ball digital card game. The aesthetic, cards, and rules are all different from Super Dragon Ball Heroes.

The goal of the new game, according to Akai, is to "let players feeling like they're inside the world of Dragon Ball." To make it as immersive as possible, the game will boast a monitor that is three times larger than the one for Super Dragon Ball Heroes and now completely surrounds the player. The monitor's image quality has also been improved and includes a touch panel which should help with the immersive feeling.

Unfortunately, the excitement for Dragon Ball Super Divers was a bit tempered by the fact that this means Super Dragon Ball Heroes will be coming to an end. Akai couldn't get into the specifics of the timing, but did confirm that Super Dragon Ball Heroes will end when Dragon Ball Super Divers is released.

It was also confirmed that cards from the current game will not be usable in Dragon Ball Super Divers.

"We decided that Dragon Ball Super Divers will be a new digital card game that takes the format to a whole new level, complete with new cards and rules," explained Akai.

Hope is not completely lost though. They are looking to implement a Super Dragon Ball Heroes mode into Dragon Ball Super Divers. So the game will still technically live on in a sense. What's more, you'll still be able to see your avatar in Heroes mode.

Just don't expect any major updates as there are no plans to update any of the missions once Dragon Ball Super Divers launches. Additionally, any cards that come from the machine itself will be cards for Dragon Ball Super Divers.

The official website for Dragon Ball Super Divers is live with a full look at the arcade machine. Unfortunately, there's no release date yet. It's currently listed as "coming soon."
