The last time the Power Rangers were seen on the big screen was during the 2017 film of the same name. While that movie had big names and a substantial budget attached to it, the film did not perform as expected, and all proposed sequels were sadly scrapped.
However, since then, the landscape of the franchise has changed drastically, with the brand being purchased by Hasbro and the quality of the main series growing tremendously since its time with Saban. Now, the franchise is primed to come back even stronger than before!
Director Jonathan Entwistle (I'm Not Okay With This) has recently been tapped to direct a brand new reboot film based on the Power Rangers that will ultimately become its very own television series, it was also cited that Entwhistle will "act as a conductor of a connected story universe that will bridge multiple platforms." As of now, it is unclear which team the higher-ups may want to adapt (or maybe a whole new team?), but it has been confirmed that the new project will be released through the Hasbro-owned entertainment company eONE.
There is so much still to learn about this new idea, but as of now, it looks like the future is bright for the teens with attitude. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
Five ordinary teens must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
