Over the past couple of weeks, Warner Bros. Japan has been sharing character spotlight trailers for the upcoming anime series Suicide Squad Isekai. The latest is a short intro to King Shark, voiced by Subaru Kimura in the series.

"A shark-like humanoid who has the IQ of a kindergartener," the character's brief description reads. "A pure and innocent soul, he is solely preoccupied with satisfying his appetite."

King Shark's appetite is on full display in the trailer as he devours anyone and anything that stands in his way. While the character teasers for each of the Suicide Squad members have been filled with action, King Shark's is easily the most gruesome. Although King Shark seems to make quick work of anyone who opposes him, it will be interesting to see how he fares in a world filled with orcs, dragons, and other fantastical threats in this strange otherwordly realm.

Suicide Squad Isekai has a similar premise to the DC Comics that it's based on. Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S., assembles a group of notorious criminals for a dangerous, suicidal mission. After being sent to an otherwordly realm -- a world of swords and magic where orcs rampage and dragons rule the skies, an "Isekai" -- the group finds themselves captured by the Kingdom's soldiers and sent to prison. With just 72 hours until the bomb on their neck explodes, they negotiate with the kingdom for their freedom, but only if they can eliminate the hostile Imperial army.

King Shark is the latest character spotlight to be released, but we've already had trailers for Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, The Joker, and Clayface.

Last week, Warner Bros. Japan announced that Suicide Squad Isekai will premiere in the United States on June 27, 2024, which is actually a few days before its debut in Japan on July 5th. The first three episodes of the series will be released initially, followed by new installments debuting each week thereafter. The first season of Suicide Squad Isekai will consist of 10 episodes. The series will stream in the United States on both Max and Hulu.

The series will likely air with its Japanese voice cast and English subtitles, although an English dubbed version is expected at some point after the anime wraps airing. The main Japanese voice cast for the series stars the following voice actors:

  • Harley Quinn: Anna Nagase
  • The Joker: Yuuichirou Umehara
  • Deadshot: Reigo Yamaguchi
  • Peacemaker: Takehito Koyasu
  • Clayface: Jun Fukuyama
  • King Shark:Subaru Kimura
  • Rick Flag: Taku Yashiro
  • Katana: Chika Anzai
  • Amanda Waller: Kujira
  • Fione: Reina Ueda
  • Aldora: Mamiko Noto
