Gundam Rogue Orbit now has a launch date. Bandai Namco Entertainment set it March 5, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Steam. Pre-orders are open in Standard, Launch, Deluxe, and Collector’s editions. Bandai Namco Studios is developing it.
The new trailer was seen in the recent State of Play after a Summer Game Fest reveal in June. You pilot the Gundam Helix as ace RE-X, with Vii, a Haro built as the Helix’s general-purpose assist brain. The enemy is the Apocalypse. The map is land and space across the solar system. A black Mobile Suit with glowing red eyes sits in the footage as the question mark on the field. Check out the trailer below:
This is a new Gundam timeline, not another Universal Century remix. Official Gundam materials park the game in the same world as Kenji Kamiyama’s anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO. The show is the earlier chapter. Rogue Orbit sits about 90 to 100 years later, in year 135 of an After Apocalypse calendar. You can play the game without the series. The kits and the threat are meant to read if you watch both.
The trailer names the people around RE-X. Sofia watches him. April captains the Stellarvane, an independent special-duty ship that runs Apocalypse jobs. Big Paul leads sand pirates who hunt the Apocalypse and hit rich transports to feed settlers. Elaine is a knight commander who flies her suit at the front of her line. That is the ragtag list Bandai has been selling since June, now with faces and jobs.
Combat is the high-mobility pitch. Fast melee, hordes, big bosses, ground zones and air. You build the Helix around how you fight. Weapons, frames, thrusters, and Apocalypse Units, or AP-U. Color is a separate slider. Each weapon has its own actions and skills. Concept art already showed a Helix that is sharper than the old RX-78 outline, a big physical sword, beam rifle, and funnels. The backpack arms hold gear and help steer in flight.
Customization is also the pre-order goodie that some players might buy for. Digital or early physical buys unlock the Earth Blue color early. Standard is the disc or download. Launch Edition adds reversible cover art, an 11x17 poster, and one Gundam Card Game promo. Deluxe stacks Premium Mod skins, a 14-color Mobile Suit pack, digital art and music, and a Mission Reward Booster. Collector’s puts Launch extras and all the Deluxe digital bits in a steel case with an exclusive HG 1/144 ARK-10 Gundam Helix Earth Blue kit and five promo cards.
Rogue Orbit is Bandai Namco Studios doing Gundam as an action game first. Breakout, Versus, and Battle Operation already cover other lanes. This one wants the cinematic cockpit fantasy: one ace, one named suit, a crew ship, and an enemy that is not Zeon with the serial numbers filed off. The Apocalypse is the unknown. AP-U parts suggest you can bolt pieces of that unknown onto the Helix. How far that goes is the system the March build has to prove.
Kamiyama’s RG Project is the other half of the marketing. XARX-ZERO starts the saga after an autonomous interstellar object hands humanity three revelations and a solar-system boom. Then the Apocalypse arrives. Rogue Orbit is the war after that boom dies. RE-X is the last-hope pilot line. Vii is the cute computer in the cockpit. Sofia, April, Big Paul, and Elaine are the human map.
No demo date came with the March lock. No hour-one patch promise. The trailer showed us a tiny bit of the world, crew, loadout UI, and that red-eyed black suit. Pre-orders are the Earth Blue paint and the kit in the collector box.
