Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO has a month locked in for it's official debut. Official Gundam channels said the new television series starts in April 2027 in Japan and North America. Other territories come later. The Japanese site uses broadcast language, so this is TV first, not a vague "sometime in 2027."
Kenji Kamiyama directs and writes series composition at SOLA ANIMATION. He has worked on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Eden of the East, plus Star Wars: Visions The Ninth Jedi. Toh Enjoe is on the science-fiction setting. Sunrise is planning. Bandai Namco Filmworks is producing. Check out the trailer below:
Takeo Otsuka voices Ray Azumi, a war orphan who lost his parents in an Apocalypse attack and sits as the assigned pilot of Gundam ZERO. Eiichi Shimizu designed the mobile suits. STATO drew the original characters. Miyako Takasu adapted them for animation and is chief animation director. Go Shiina is on the score.
The timeline is After Apocalypse. An Autonomous Interstellar Object from another galaxy hands humanity three revelations and a boom across the solar system. Gravity control is part of that gift. Then the Object turns. What arrives next is a silicon-based, self-replicating ecosystem people start calling the Apocalypse. Three months of fighting later, Earth is abandoned. That evacuation year becomes A.A. 1.
The anime opens in A.A. 45. Humanity lives on the moon and in colonies. Ray wakes on the lunar surface. Gundam ZERO, model XARX-0, is an experimental unit built to fight that ecosystem. Official copy calls it a new-generation Gundam-type mobile suit.
The other half of the RG Project is the game. Gundam Rogue Orbit launches worldwide March 5, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Steam. Its story sits about 90 years after the anime, in A.A. 135. The playable thread follows RE-X and the ARK-10 Gundam Helix, with swappable weapons, frames, thrusters, and Apocalypse Units. The anime is the earlier chapter. The game is the later one. Kamiyama teased other pieces besides those two when the project hit San Diego Comic-Con in July.
April 2027 therefore sits one month after players can walk the same continuity in a cockpit. Bandai is stacking the year: game in March, television in April, more media unnamed. No North American streamer is attached to this date drop. The English official page only says the title launches in North America in April 2027 and to watch for other regions. Crunchyroll covered the Japanese TV lock, and hopefully they cover the English one too.
Gundam has spent decades in Universal Century, Alternate Universe shows, and one-off films. XARX-ZERO is a clean break with a new calendar and a threat that is an environment, not a rival principality. Ray is a designated pilot, not a farm kid who trips into a hangar. The Object-to-Apocalypse turn is the Kamiyama and Enjoe hook: a gift that becomes the thing you cannot live beside.
