Enter the Dragon, arguably Bruce Lee's greatest martial arts action movie of all time, will turn 50 on August 17 and to celebrate, Bruce Lee Entertainment has announced plans for a Bruce Lee anime, titled House of Lee.
Bruce Lee Entertainment is developing the series alongside the crowdfunding content platform Shibuya. Bruce Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee, is also involved with the project. The crowdfunding campaign for the project has already ended and funding for the project has been secured.
In a press release, Shannon stated, "Anime is an amazing medium for telling a truly creative story where Bruce Lee can be Bruce Lee. I’m so excited for the possibilities for action, fantasy, history, culture, and creativity within this medium.”
The House of Lee will reportedly depict a fictional story about Bruce Lee assembling a group of "Dragon Warriors" to fight darkness and shadow.
A special screening of Enter the Dragon will be held in over 650 theaters on August 13, where the below trailer will be screened.
The anime is set to debut in 2024/25 and was directed by Emily Yang. Paris Blohm provided the music, while character designs were handled by Phuncal and Emily Yang. The production studio behind the project is the Beijing-based, Shockunit Studio.
Emily Yang aka Pplpleasr rose to prominence with the NFT-adjacent animation project White Rabbit, which also debuted on Shibuya. The animated project allowed those who owned the White Rabbit Producer Pass to vote on how each installment in the film series ends, by staking their NFT.
