The first season of Blood Blockade Battlefront from Studio BONES, premiered in Spring 2015 but was interrupted by numerous delays, with the final episode that was originally set to air in July, not being released until October. With that lack of closure, much of the show's momentum eroded, however, there's apparently a new season on the way, coming sometime in 2017.
The second season will be titled titled Kekkai Sensen & Beyond, which translates to Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond.
Shigehito Takayanagi (The World God Only Knows) will be taking over director duties from Rie Matsumoto. Likewise, Yasuko Kamo (Dagashi Kashi) is replacing Kazunao Furuya as the series' lead script writer. Toshihiro Kawamoto and Taisei Iwasaki are returning as chief animation director and music composer, respectively.
FUNimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan, with English subs.
Trigun creator, Yasuhiro Nightow, returns with a frantic new series — Blood Blockade Battlefront!
In Nightow''s new world, a breach between Earth and the netherworlds has opened up over the city of New York, trapping New Yorkers and creatures from other dimensions in an impenetrable bubble. They''ve lived together for years, in a world of crazy crime sci-fi sensibilities. Now someone is threatening to sever the bubble, and a group of stylish superhumans is working to keep it from happening.
Like Trigun, Nightow''s Blood Blockade Battlefront is non-stop action, unbridled imagination, and a ton of strange weaponry.
