Atsushi Okubo's Fire Force was released in 2015 in the pages of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, and the creator brings all of the energy he brought into Soul Eater to a new and completely original new series. Fire Force follows a young addition to a fire company specializing in eliminating demonic threats called "infernals" who possess innocents through spontaneous human combustion.
One of the things that make the series so engaging is the mixture of normal people, those who use magic and others who use pyrokinesis, and how they formulate plans to defeat these enemies while simultaneously putting a spin on the traditional firefighter.
Recently, the second season of the hit anime started airing in both Japan and the Crunchyroll streaming service and has turned the heat up considerably in terms of content! Fans of the manga know that there is a lot to look forward to, including the upcoming Operation Nether Investigation arc, which will see the assistance of Maki's older brother along with Tokyo Army First Lieutenant, Takigi Oze and Company 2 first platoon chief, Hajiki who have been announced to be voiced by Yuki Ono and Kohsuke Toriumi respectively. Together, these newcomers will take on new and dangerous foes the likes of which no one has seen before!
A brand new visual was recently released from the Fire Force team that shows off these characters in what looks to be the middle of an intense battle. In Year 198 of the Solar Era in Tokyo, Special Fire Force's are fighting against a phenomenon called Spontaneous Human Combustion where humans beings are turned into living infernos called “Infernals.” While the Infernals are First Generation cases of spontaneous human combustion, later generations possess the ability to manipulate flames while retaining human form. Shinra Kusakabe, a youth who gained the nickname Devil’s Footprints for his ability to ignite his feet at will, joins the Special Fire Force Company 8 which composes of other flames users as they work to extinguish any Infernals they encounter. As a faction that is creating Infernals appears, Shinra begins to uncover the truth behind a mysterious fire that caused the death of his family twelve years ago.
