The first episode of Fire Force is here, and you know what? It's not half bad, to be honest. The episode was enough to have us wanting more, but how much more are we bound to get? Well, we’ve come to understand the plan right now is for 24 episodes in total.
We were expecting 12 episodes, but 24 is even better, especially if things are done correctly so that the series doesn’t feel drawn out. Additionally, we should note that Japan will get seven home video volumes in the future, which is nice.
The anime premiered on both FunimationNOW and Crunchyroll on July 5. Most folks might have only heard of the Japanese dub version, but an English dub exists via FunimationNOW. From what we’ve gathered, it would seem as if only Funimation is streaming the English dub of Fire Force right now.
Here is the basic plot of the series:
Year 198 of the Solar Era in Tokyo, special fire brigades are fighting against a phenomenon called spontaneous human combustion where humans beings are turned into living infernos called "Infernals" (焰ビト Homura Bito). While the Infernals are first generation cases of spontaneous human combustion, later generations possess the ability to manipulate flames while retaining human form.
Let’s hope the anime is as good as the manga going forward because if not, it would be a real shame.
