This past weekend, KADOKAWA's MF Bunko J brand hosted an event called Summer Gakuensai 2022. The event featured a number of updates, one of which revealed further information on The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy anime adaptation. The most current reports indicate that Passione will be in charge of animation production for the television anime adaptation of the school fantasy light novel series written by Yu Shimizu.

Since May of 2019, KADOKAWA's MF Bunko J label (which is under the Media Factory brand) has been publishing the books that are part of the series. Yen Press has started publishing its English translation since since August of the year 2020. Below is the summary for the novel series:

Battles for ancient kingdoms are nothing compared to the battles of a classroom!

Awakening from magical stasis after a thousand years, the Dark Lord Leonis suddenly finds himself in the body of a ten-year-old boy! He quickly meets Riselia, a girl confronting the Voids, creatures that have nearly exterminated humanity. Determined to uncover the mysteries of this strange new era, Leonis enrolls in Excalibur Academy, a school that trains students to fight back against these enigmatic monsters. Could the Voids hold some connection to Leonis's past?

In October of last year, it was announced in the 8th volume of the novel series that they would be creating an anime adaptation of the series. Here is the brief summary from the original news article post:

An anime adaptation of Yu Shimizu's school fantasy light novel series Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai / The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy is currently in the process of being developed. This was revealed in an official announcement contained within an 80-second PV for the series' most recent eighth volume. It will be the author's second original novel work to be adapted into an anime, following in the footsteps of Bladedance of Elementalers, whose adaptation into a television anime was created in 2014. Saki Miyashita, who provided her voice for the lead character Shiesta in the summer 2021 season of the television anime The Detective Is Already Dead, narrates the footage.
