According to Yasuke's composer, the first six episodes that dropped on Netflix on April 29 is just the beginning.

LeSean Thomas (The Boondocks, Children of Ether, Cannon Busters) directed the project at MAPPA with Lakeith Stanfield providing the English-dub for the titular hero.  The anime is based on the historical figure of the same name who  served as a retainer under the Japanese daimyō Oda Nobunaga in the late 1500s.

In an interview with ComicBook, Thomas was a bit more cautious when it came to the prospects of a second season.  "I can't say too much, but the response has been really great and it would be great to become more than what it is. I'm just really excited for the fans digging into this, and then we'll see. Obviously, it would be great to have a big splash and then keep things going."

In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, the greatest ronin never known, Yasuke, struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. But when a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords.

The series started of good but it fell of a cliff quality wise, with the HUGE jump from the end of episode 4 to the absolute rushed shitshow of the last two. Honestly, if the plan was to make it a series from the get-go they shouldn't have rushed an ending in the last 2 episodes. It felt like a closed story when the final credits rolled.
I'd say the show shouldn't have mechas, given how ridiculous and out of place they look, but the good robot sadly saying 'friend' was the hardest hitting moment in the show, I felt the tears swelling up.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show! One suggestion, with the subtitles how about getting rid of the ones that say the person's name, machine clanking or low muttering sound. Those just aren't needed.
Now get Wesley Snipes and make a live-action movie of this!

@kirbyfan - It's closed captioning for the hearing impaired so they don't missed what's going on or where it's coming from.
