Is A GODZILLA Anime In The Works?

Could TOHO Animation be planning a Godzilla anime? A recent domain name registration from TOHO certainly indicates that's the case. We just have one question - why hasn't this been made already?

With TOHO Animation recently registering the domain name "Godzilla-Anime.com" on August 02, all signs are pointing to the first ever anime adaptation for the King of Kaijus.  This news comes on the heels of the July 29 release of Shin-Godzilla in Japanese theaters.  FUNimation will release the film in North American theaters later in 2016.

Though we've had two American cartoons feature Godzilla, the ruler of Monster Island made his first appearance in a Japanese anime this year on Crayon Shin-chan.

As this is theoretically, the early stages of such a project, there's no details on what animation studio, director or character designer(s) are potentially involved.  We'll keep you posted when additional details drop.
