Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action adaptation wasn't perfect but it was enjoyable and popular enough to warrant two more seasons. Netflix has already greenlit Seasons 2 and 3 of the series, confirming this will wrap-up their live-action adaptation of the hit anime.

But what happens next? Executive producer Jabbar Raisani was asked about the possibility of adapting The Legend of Korra. While nothing official seems to be in the works, he did express interest.

"Certainly, I'd be interested in anything that is in this [Avatar] universe," he told The Direct at Paleyfest 2024.

The Legend of Korra is a sequel series to Avatar: The Last Airbender and ran on Nickelodeon for four seasons from 2012 to 2014.

The series is set in the same universe as Avatar: The Last Airbender, but 70 years after the events of that series. The series continues to revolve around people manipulating, or bending, the elements of water, earth, fire, or air. While certain people can only bend one of these elements, the "Avatar" can bend all four. Korra, the successor and reincarnation of Aang, is the Avatar in this series and faces political and spiritual unrest.

The official synopsis for The Legend of Korra reads:

This follow-up series to "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is set 70 years after the events of "Avatar" and follows Korra, the next Avatar after Aang, who is from the Southern Water Tribe. With earth, water and fire under her belt, Korra must master the art of airbending. Korra's quest leads her to Republic City, a virtual melting pot where benders and nonbenders live together. But she soon discovers that the land is plagued by crime and a growing antibending revolution that threatens to tear the city apart. While dealing with the dangers, Korra begins her airbending training under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin.

The Legend of Korra was met with similar praise as its predecessor for its writing and production value. On Rotten Tomatoes, it sits at a 89% with critics and 79% with the general audience. While not as high as the near-perfect scores of the Avatar: The Last Airbender anime, it can still be viewed as a worthy follow-up and one that would make for a good adaptation.

Reception to Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender didn't reach the lofty expectations set by its original source material but it did score a 73% with audiences and a 60% with critics. The fate of a Legend of Korra adaptation will likely depend on how the remaining two seasons pan out.
