Netflix Reveals Details For CASTLEVANIA Spinoff Following RONDO OF BLOOD's Richter Belmont

Netflix has revealed plans for a Castlevania spinoff that sets much, much later than the time period where we first encountered Sypha and Trevor Belmont. Featuring Richter Belmont and Maria Renard.

Netflix previously announced that the fourth season of its anime-inspired Castlevania show would be the last but that a spinoff was in the works.  Fans soon discovered in the last season that Sypha was pregnant with Trevor's son, prompting hope that the spinoff would follow their offspring.  However, Netflix's Geeked Week online fan event revealed that the new series would be set in 1792 France and follow the exploits of Richter Belmont, a Belmont that's much further down the family tree than Sypha and Trevor's son.

It was also confirmed that the new Castlevania spinoff would star Maria Renard, who appeared with Richter in the 1993 TurboGrafX-16's Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. In the game, Richter sets out to rescue his lover Annette, who's being held prisoner in Dracula's castle by one of his henchmen, Shaft.  Annette is not the only prisoner there as she shares confinement with Maria and 2 other women.

There's no word on if the spinoff will fully adapt the Rondo of Blood game but we'll have a better idea once more characters for the spinoff are announced. Additionally, we still don't have an official title or release date yet for the spinoff so keep it locked to AnimeMojo for future updates.  Given the success of Castlevania season 4, we predict that Netflix likely wants to get the spinoff out to subscribers sooner rather than later.

[Note: Netflix amended their first Tweet which mistakenly called Richter Sypha and Trevor's son.]
