A surprise hit of the Winter 2021 anime season, Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki is confirmed to receive a 13-episode second 2 according to the franchise's official Twitter account. Studio Project No.9 animated the 12-episode first season of the anime adaptation of writer Yūki Yaku and illustrator Fly's ongoing light novel series. Originally, a new anime project was announced on January 12, 2022 but this is the first official confirmation that this mystery project will be a direct sequel.
Along with the Tweet, a teaser video celebrating the news was also released. The teaser video reveals that the second season will be titled Jaku Chara Tomozaki-kun 2nd Stage (Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki: Second Stage). The first season of the anime covered the first 3 volumes of the ongoing light novel series, which has released 10 volumes to date. The 11th volume is currently slated for release in Japan on March 17, 2023.
Funimation previously simulcast the series as it aired in Japan and also provided an English dub. Two OVAs were also released after the first season concluded. Following Sony's acquisition of Crunchyroll, the series was later added to the streamer's catalog.
Stay tuned for future updates on Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki season 2 as we look for confirmation of returning staff and release date.
