The original video animations (OVAs) for My Hero Academia Season 5, titled "HLB" and "Laugh! As If You Are in Hell" will launch on Crunchyroll on Monday, August 1, 2022 they with both be available in sub and dub for viewers to enjoy! Their North American premiere was made at Anime Expo earlier this Summer.
The OVAs were directed by Kenji Nagasaki and written by Kohei Horikoshi, who also collaborated on My Hero Academia, My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: Two Heroes.

The "Hero League of Baseball" (abbreviated as "HLB") is a baseball league that was established by various heroes who also have a passion for the sport. Now, it’s game day! The HLB championship will come down to the final game, which will be played between Gang Orca and Shishido's two competing agencies. They decide to compete as a group and form two teams: "Orcas" and "Lionels." Because there are no rules in the world of HLB, it is perfectly fine to make use of their peculiarities. On the other hand, right as they're about to win the game, a criminal tried to step in and ruined everything. Who will emerge victorious from the HLB! competition?

The three heroes Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki all work as interns under the No.1 hero, Endeavor's agency. One of their missions is to identify the criminal known as "Smiley" who is responsible for doodling throughout the city. However, given the low level of urgency, they decided to let other pro-heroes deal with this situation. One day, Smiley scribbles something on the wall of Endeavor's home! The irate Endeavor, along with the other members of the 1-A team, makes the decision to go after the bad guy. Smiley's peculiarity, on the other hand, is revealed to be something completely ridiculous but extremely effective... It is to cause hysterical laughter in the audience of anyone who gazes into his eyes. Will the team ever be able to stop laughing and bring the villain to justice?!
