Weekly Shonen Jump Celebrates 20 Years Of ONE PIECE

Can you believe that we're going on 20 years since One Piece debuted and we're only a little over halfway finished with Eiichiro Oda's chronicles of the strawhat pirate crew?

There once was a man named Gold Roger who was king of the pirates.
He had fame, power, and wealth beyond your wildest dreams.
Before they hung him from the gallows, these were the final words he said:
"My fortune is yours for the taking, but you'll have to find it first.
I left everything I owned in One Piece."
Ever since, pirates from all over the world set sail for the Grand Line searching for One Piece,
the treasure that would make their dreams come true.

Well, this sure makes me feel old! The latest cover of Weekly Shonen Jump (released on December 5) acknowledges that 2017 will see the 20 year anniversary since Eiichiro Oda debuted his leading shonen manga, One Piece.  If you look closely at the cover, you'll realize that's not the actual Strawhat crew but several leading character from popular Shonen Jump series cosplaying as the One Piece crew. Paying tribute are characters from Haikyu!!, Black Clover, Ole Golazo and Kimetsu no Yaiba.

In addition to the special cover, it was revealed that every cover of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2017 will pay homage to One Piece in some form or fashion.

This past July, Oda revealed that One Piece is actually only 65% complete.  If we do the math, that means we're looking at another decade+ of additional adventures of Luffy D. Monkey and co. at the very least!
