Live Action Evangelion in the Works

Despite it being an untested formula, another anime series has been purchased with the intent to bring it to the big screen.

This time it is one of most debated series on the internet, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Gainax, ADV Films, and Weta Workshop (the special effects studio created for Lord of the Rings) have teamed up to bring this very long series to the big screen. Will we see the success of live action anime in the west, or will we see a succession of video-game style flops?
