The kitsune fox girl is spoken by Inori Minase, and Nobunaga Shimazaki portrays the boy with the spectacles. The cartoon was created by Shirogumi and Studio Studio 4°C.
The new advertisement is an animated version of a live-action Nissin Foods commercial with the same plot. A kitsune fox girl student is uneasy as she observes the kid with the glasses consume Donbei Kitsune Udon. She inquires as to why he is only consuming the noodles and not the deep-fried tofu that makes "kitsune" udon unique. The young man responds that he enjoys saving the finest for last. Even though her tail wags, the girl attempts to hide her emotion when she gets touched.
In the inaugural Donbei Kitsune Udon commercial, Kikunosuke Toya and Anne Ogawa played a young man and a fox girl in a tragic love story. The characters were created by manga artist Eisaku Kubonouchi (Chocolat, Carole & Tuesday). The second advertisement included Kensho Ono as a young man who purposefully eats tempura soba instead of kitsune udon to enrage her and Saori Hayami as a resentful kitsune fox girl. The characters were created by manga artist Taishi Mori (Radiation House).
In order to evoke a certain, nostalgic mood, Nissin Cup Noodle debuted its "Hungry Days" advertising campaign in 2017. This was a run of advertisements featuring well-known anime characters as they approached their childhood. A love confession was made in front of a post-apocalyptic setting as the first "Hungry Days" campaign came to an end. The following advertising campaign centered on the One Piece characters' school years. Those advertisements' characters were likewise created by Kubonouchi.
