The Doraemon franchise has been inspiring and impacting children for 50 years now, and even though the robotic cat has been around for this long, there are still many more adventures to be had. Beginning as a manga, the franchise has also branched out into anime and multiple films.
Now, celebrating the 50th anniversary, many of the creators who grew up with the series are giving back with brand new movies, including the CG sequel, Stand By Me Doraemon 2. Based on the 2000 film Doraemon: A Grandmother's Recollections but will include its own story elements. The film will also see a future with Nobita and Shizuka being married!
With the film finally releasing in Japan tomorrow, a final trailer has been released that showcases the film's theme song "Niji" ("Rainbow") by Masaki Suda. The new song is sure to bring a tear to any fan's eye, but it also adds an emotional layer that makes the film feel even more special.
While it hasn't been confirmed if the film will ever release in the west, will you be there should it ever be announced? We would love to see your thoughts on the trailer and song in the comments below!
The film's story will largely be based on the franchise's 2000 film Doraemon: Obāchan no Omoide (Doraemon: A Grandmother's Recollections) but will add original elements, including the love story of Shizuka and Nobita that was also present in the previous Stand By Me Doraemon film.
Stand By Me Doraemon 2 will hit theaters in Japan on November 20th!
