Atsushi Okubo's fantastic manga series, Fire Force, has not only grown in popularity since its release in 2015 but could have potentially even surpassed the fandom of his previous work with the fantastic series, Soul Eater. Based in a world where demons embody innocent humans through spontaneous human combustion, it takes the pyrokinetic abilities of Shinra, and his team called the Fire Force to combat them. The simplicity of the plot has allowed for some fantastic moments in storytelling and has even gotten the series its own anime.
The anime adaption of the series released last year to rave reviews. Being praised for the action and animation, Fire Force is considered one of the best new shows out right now, comparable to anime like Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and Black Clover. The anime's second season was recently released and has been going strong with the fans since!
With the show's first arc of the season wrapping up, a new adventure awaits, and to help symbolize the change, Japanese rock band KANA-BOON (a group that has worked on shows like Naruto: Shippuden and My Hero Academia) has released their opening theme for the new season titled "Torch of Liberty"; a fitting title considering the subject. The upbeat tune has recently released a music video for their new single and a creditless version of the show's opening!
Fire Force is about to add some more fuel to its fire with these energetic songs, and it will only get better from here! We would love to hear your thoughts on the new song in the usual spot!
In Year 198 of the Solar Era in Tokyo, Special Fire Force's are fighting against a phenomenon called Spontaneous Human Combustion where humans beings are turned into living infernos called “Infernals.” While the Infernals are First Generation cases of spontaneous human combustion, later generations possess the ability to manipulate flames while retaining human form. Shinra Kusakabe, a youth who gained the nickname Devil’s Footprints for his ability to ignite his feet at will, joins the Special Fire Force Company 8 which composes of other flames users as they work to extinguish any Infernals they encounter. As a faction that is creating Infernals appears, Shinra begins to uncover the truth behind a mysterious fire that caused the death of his family twelve years ago.
